Perforated Metal Soffit
Perforated soffit is designed with evenly spaced holes or slots to allow continuous air intake at the eaves.
Key Advantages:
- Ventilation: Supports proper intake airflow for balanced attic systems (works with ridge vents, gable vents, etc.)
- Moisture Control: Reduces condensation risk, helping prevent mold, rot, and insulation degradation
- Code Compliance: Often required to meet ventilation ratios (e.g., 1:150 or 1:300 depending on assembly)
- Uniform Air Distribution: Continuous panels outperform isolated vent inserts
Best Use Cases:
- Conditioned or unconditioned attics needing airflow
- Pole barns with enclosed soffits
- Any structure where ridge venting is installed
Solid Metal soffit
Solid soffit panels have no perforations, creating a sealed underside.
Key Advantages:
- Clean Aesthetic: Smooth, uninterrupted appearance—often preferred for modern or high-end builds
- Targeted Venting Control: Allows you to place ventilation exactly where needed (using box vents or other systems)
- Weather Protection: Eliminates wind-driven rain or snow intrusion through perforations in harsh exposures
Best Use Cases:
- Open overhang designs (no attic cavity)
- Buildings using alternative ventilation strategies (e.g., gable vents only)Areas where over-ventilation or air infiltration is a concern
