Who We Are: The People Behind the Products
Who We Are
A good product matters, but so do the people behind it.
At Metal Exteriors, we know our customers are counting on us. When an order comes in, there are a lot of people involved in making sure the details are right, questions are answered, problems are worked through, and everything gets where it needs to go. That responsibility is something we take seriously.
We’re a team made up of people with different roles, different strengths, and different responsibilities, but we’re all working toward the same thing: taking care of our customers and doing our part to make sure things are done right.
Because being reliable isn’t just about making a good product. It’s about being someone our customers can count on.
Doing the right thing
One of the biggest parts of being reliable is doing the right thing, even when it’s not necessarily the easiest thing to do.
For Adam Smith, our VP of Marketing & Sales, that starts with customer service.
“Elite customer service is doing the right thing, no matter what,” says Smith. “That doesn’t mean the ‘customer is always right’ and sometimes we must have tough conversations, but we always operate with the mindset of ‘Do the right thing, no matter what.’”
That mindset carries through the rest of the team.
“We are all human, mistakes can and will be made. But what sets us apart is how we handle those situations and always make sure that we do the right thing!” says Seth Schwertfager, one of our Account Managers.
Mistakes happen. Orders don’t always go exactly as planned. What matters is how you respond when they do.
For us, that means taking responsibility, communicating honestly, working through the problem, and doing what we can to make things right. We believe that’s part of earning trust — not just when everything goes smoothly, but when it doesn’t.
people you can count on
Customer service is more than answering a phone call or responding to an email. It’s about being there when someone needs help and making sure they aren’t left wondering what comes next.
“Customer service is huge for me. In my opinion it makes all the difference. Without good communication and good customer service, your company will not survive in this industry,” says Schwertfager.
For Scott Denman, also an Account Manager, that means paying attention to the details and staying involved throughout the process. From the first request to the finished order, communication and accuracy matter.
For Keith Stamper, our HR & Finance Manager, it starts with something as simple as listening.
“Active listening helps troubleshoot the core issues,” he says. “My goal is to explain solutions in a simple, honest, and polite way.”
Everyone at Metal Exteriors has a different role, but reliability comes from all of those roles working together. It’s the person answering the phone, the person entering the order, the person running the machine, the person checking the details, and the people making sure everything is ready to go.
Every step matters.
quality beyond the product
We care about the quality of what we manufacture, but we also believe quality is reflected in the way we work.
When Smith talks about quality, what comes to mind first isn’t just the products.
“We have made moves over the years to ensure our products are of the highest quality with the best warranties available, but what really comes to mind is our people. The quality of our team is what makes Metal Exteriors a preferred partner in the industry,” he says.
That’s something we believe strongly in.
Quality means paying attention. It means asking questions when something doesn’t look right. It means checking the details, communicating special requests, and taking pride in the work you’re responsible for.
It’s not one person’s job. It’s something the entire team contributes to.
Always looking ahead
As we grow, we want to keep learning, improving, and finding better ways to serve our customers. We don’t want to become comfortable simply because something has worked in the past.
Seth puts it simply:
“It’s important to not be complacent and happy with where we are at. If we are not looking into the future, we will be passed by others who are.”
We’re always looking at what’s next — whether that’s improving the way we work, expanding what we offer, or finding ways to make the customer experience better.
Growth matters to us, but so does making sure we grow in the right direction.
What Makes Metal Exteriors Different
There are a lot of companies making metal roofing and siding. What we believe sets Metal Exteriors apart isn’t just what comes out of our shop. It’s the people behind it.
“They are the best group of human beings I’ve been around in my 20-year career. We all pull in the same direction, and we are here to help you,” says Smith.
Stamper points to that same sense of people and culture. Employees are treated like family, encouraged to set goals, and supported as they grow.
That’s the kind of company we want to be.
We want our customers to know that there are real people behind every order — people who care about getting it right, who will answer when there’s a question, who will own it when something goes wrong, and who are always looking for ways to do better.
At the end of the day, that’s what being reliable means to us.
Do the right thing. Take care of people. Stand behind your work.
That’s who we are.
