From Vision to Reality: The Sharp Family Home
Creating a place to call home
A home is more than the materials used to build it. It’s the place where memories are made, milestones are celebrated, and everyday life happens.
For Brian and Jill Sharp, building a home was about creating a place they could enjoy during retirement and share with their family and friends.
Their story started with the land it was built on. Jill Sharp mentioned that their home sits on 180 acres of rolling hills and beautiful farmland in South Louisiana. The setting played a major role in the overall design of the home and the look they wanted to create.
“We were looking to combine the look of a craftsman style mixed with a modern farmhouse look. We imagined the space being warm and inviting, but also a cozy space to admire the beautiful scenery,” said Sharp.
Choosing the Right materials
When choosing the exterior products for the project, Sharp explained that they wanted quality materials that would require as little maintenance as possible. The pre-painted metal board and batten stood out as a great option because it gave them the look they wanted while also being durable and easy to maintain over time.
The home features Metal Exteriors Metal Board and Batten in Textured Alamo White and Metal Axis in Redwood. The combination of the two colors and profiles helped bring the craftsman style they envisioned to the exterior, while also giving them the low-maintenance option they were looking for. The contrast between Alamo White and Redwood, along with the two profiles, adds some warmth and character to the home.
bringing the design together
Once installation began, the Sharps were able to see the design they had been planning start to come together. The metal board and batten quickly changed the look of the home and gave them a better idea of how everything would come together.
“The vision came together within the first week of installing the metal board and batten. As soon as it was installed, it looked like a beautiful, finished project,” said Sharp.
The new exterior has also been a conversation starter when family and friends come by.
“The best part is when people come to visit us, they can’t believe the product is made of metal!” said Sharp.
A new Chapter
For the Sharps, completing their home marked the end of a long-awaited process and the beginning of a new chapter. After years of planning and dreaming about what they wanted their forever home to be, they could finally move into the home they had been working toward.
“This project has been in planning for two years now, and now that it is complete, it has completed the dream of building our forever home,” said Sharp.
Now, the Sharps can enjoy retirement in a place that feels like home. With space to relax, spend time with family and friends, and take in the quiet surroundings, the home is a place they can enjoy day to day and for years to come.
